Our latest 1462UF purchaser wants to keep their name a secret, but I’ll fill you in on a bit of their backstory.
Almost exactly twelve months ago we met them for their first time at one of the Australian Print Conventions. An existing signage company with a big name in the Victorian industry using their impressive setup to not only manufacture and print for themselves, but other print companies as well.
Already importing braille for their clients, they could only see the demand growing, and with the hurdles of inconsistent time frames and shipping costs causing pain, they wanted to dip their toe into on-demand printed braille. The Mutoh XPJ-661UF UV-LED Flatbed Printer not only let them dip their toe in, it let them dive in headfirst, and within months the 661UF was working overtime producing massive amounts of braille signage for their existing customers.
Twelve months of trouble free printing on the Mutoh XpertJet 661UF left them feeling completely comfortable to consider doubling their capability with another 661UF… we asked if they wanted to QUADRUPLE it with a new XpertJet 1462UF UV-LED Printer.
The 1462UF has a bigger table size, two 4” UV LED dual lamps, and dual staggered heads split into one with 8-channels of CMYK and one with 8 channels of White & Varnish; making the printer bigger, faster, and capable of producing three times as many signs in each print run at speeds up to 3 x faster than the XPJ-661UF
A week later we were installing the printer with a purpose-built room being built around it before it had even been filled with ink. The team understood that the environment you’re printing in matters and the space went from a cold empty warehouse to a climate controlled room perfectly built to house the UV printer.
The existing knowledge and expertise of the team made training a breeze, and by the end of it they were almost pushing us out the door so they could start producing signs on their brand new toy.
Vision Australia estimates that over 1.5% of Australians are blind or have low vision; in a country of 26 million, like Australia, it is over 400,000 people.
Blindness and low vision can touch anyone and the market for braille isn’t just a market that is booming; it is a market that matters.
